When you have a very small space such as a studio, you need to be extremely careful with which items you furnish the room with. Here are our top tips for keeping a small space looking spacious and welcoming:

  1. Keep the colours calm, neutral and light by using whites, creams, light greys and light blues. A small space doesn’t need dark wallpaper – it will make the area look smaller and rather oppressive
  2. If you’re planning to upstyle your home yourself, order your furniture slowly and don’t be afraid to exchange it if it’s not right. Once you’ve got your sofa in, for example, you will be able to figure out how much space you truly have left for other items
  3. Don’t go overboard on accessories – buyers don’t need to see knives, colanders and such like, but things like flowers, a nice vase, a blanket or a rug can really help to give that ‘liveable’ feel
